GLOBAL TEENAGER NETWORK LEARNING CIRCLE NEWS 10

WEEK 10: Monday 7th  December -Sunday 13th  December 2009

Closing the Learning Circle (Posting of good-bye letters)

*****************************************************************************

Hi Learning Circle Participants,

All too soon we have come to the end the September-December 2009 Learning Circle. First of all, I would like to use the opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for joining this 10-week interactive learning process.

Now the news items for the week:

1. Important! LC ranking information

2. Update of the Learning Circles.

3. Agenda for the week.

4. Facilitator’s  Goodbye message.

5. Evaluation of the Learning Circle

6. Learning Circle Overview as at 6th of December 2009

1. Important!!!  LC ranking information

Due to the fact that several GTP countries ( Hungary, Latvia, Romania, Ukraine, Canada, Yemen) are suffering from H1N1 flu epidemic, classes are half empty or schools are even being closed for 2-4 weeks. Students and teachers are managing to continue LC participation from their homes, internet café etc.

In appreciation of this active participation  we want to announce that:

 - Answers posted by LC members from those countries before November 25th will be counted as sent on time.

- summaries posted by LC members from those countries before December 13th will be counted as sent on time. The week between December 6th and December 13th will be the last week in September-December 2009 LC; we hope it will not be too difficult to still post all summaries and goodbye messages!

2. News on update of the Learning Circle.

Based on analysis of the update of the Learning Circle dated 6th December 2009,I found out that some of you have posted your  summaries and goodbye messages. Good work done! However, IS8 are yet to send your summaries. Please do well to send them by this week.

3. Agenda for the week.

As stated earlier, this week marks the end of the Learning Circle. I am expecting your good-bye letters. The time has come to bid farewell to your fellow partners of the Learning Circle. Share with your partners your impression about the 10 week Learning Circle process. Remember without your good-bye letters the Learning Circle would not come to successful end. The goodbye messages will officially draw the curtain down on the Learning.

4. Facilitator’s good-bye message

I will like to express my profoundest gratitude to you teachers for the invaluable services you rendered to the students throughout the 10 week period. To your students I say well done! We are proud of you. To our fellow country coordinators, you are the pivot in which the Learning Circles revolve. Without your support, the Learning Circle will not have come to this stage. Thanks for the usual support.

To those who could not participate fully in the Learning Circle, due to unforeseen circumstances, we encourage you to join us during the next Learning Circle thus February-May 2010 Learning Circle

We hope those who are yet to post the summaries will do so. This will enable us rank the entire Learning Circle process to come out with the best performing schools/classes.

5. Evaluation of the Learning Circle

After going through this interesting Learning Circle, the time has come for us to evaluate the entire process. The evaluation results would help the project coordinators and country coordinators to assess the successes, challenges and the way forward of subsequent Learning Circles. We are therefore appealing to each Learning Class to log on to http://survey.iicd.org/ to evaluate the Learning Circle.

Each teacher and at least 5 students are expected to complete the online evaluation forms. Please remember to use the “Global Teenager’ questionnaires. Take note also to select the appropriate questionnaires, because there are questionnaire for both teachers and students. Please do well to complete the evaluation process by 13th December 2009. I hope the various country coordinators will assist you in this endeavor.
