GLOBAL TEENAGER NETWORK: LEARNING CIRCLE NEWS 2
WEEK 2: Monday 5th October – Sunday 12th October 2009
Sponsoring a question and post it the partners of the Learning Circle
***********************************************************
Dear Learning Circle Participants,
We are now in the second week of the Learning Circle. We hope you are enjoying participation in Wiki Learning Circles. It was very interesting reading most of your teacher and class letters and photos.
Agenda for the two weeks ahead
1. Sponsoring questions and guideline to be posted on the Wiki
As you are all aware, this week marks the beginning of composing your research questions and guidelines which will help to other partners of the Learning Circle answer your question. The 2nd and 3rd week of the Learning Circle process are dedicated to complete this task. We hope you are all busy researching on the best question to ask your partners of the Learning Circle .
Below the main recommendations which will be helpful:
· Compose one main question with minimum 2, maximum 4 sub-questions related to the main question, which will guide the research.
· The question should be ‘open’ and should initiate research, no ‘closed question’ that can be answered with a Yes/No answer or very simple to answer
· The question should reflect international and global learning: it should not focus on ether one country or one region.
· The answer should require research.
· Research does not require special materials or equipment taking into account limitations that might exist in other schools.
· Research should be done in a short time, taking in account that each LC group has to do around 10 researches during 4 weeks.
Click on Questions and post your question and guideline in your school space.
But bear in mind that your sponsored question should relate to theme you belong to. Teachers of the Learning Circles are expected to help students in performing this task
2. Criteria for quality sponsored question:
· Should be sent in time
· Related to the theme of LC
· Clear definition without possible misinterpretation, taking into consideration cultural differences.
· One main question with minimum 3, maximum 5 sub-questions related to the main question, which will guide the research.
· The question should be ‘open’ and initiate research, no ‘closed question’ that can be answered with to Yes/No question or very simple to answer; the answer requires research
· The question should reflect international and global learning, and focus one country or region.
3. Please remember the steps of posting information in Wiki space
Step 1: compose your your question in your word processor E.g MS Word.
Step 2: Copy the question
Step 3: Click on "Edit" button above and paste your question in your class space
Step 4: Cllick on "Save" button to save your work
Those who will fail to post any information by the end of 3rd week being teacher and class letters or sponsored questions would be removed from the Learning Circle.
