 IS1                              Class Introduction

Hello GTP pals,

This is our class. Our teacher, Andy, took  the picture on the terrace of the first floor in our school (by her mobile phone) . This is the floor where you can find one of the centres of our school's social life, the school cafeteria run by the parents of a member of our group. We asked our teacher to upload the class introduction we put together in today's English lesson. Some of us uploaded our versions on our Ning page, some others put down several ideas in their English notebook, and the rest contributed with some short comments in the lesson. As a result, we've put together a description you can read below.

7.a is an upper primary class ( according to our school system) with a general curriculum. In our school there are two secondary classes with pupils at our age, one of them is specialized in Maths, the other is not. Some of our former classmates decided to continue their studies in those two secondary grammar school classes. We miss them but some new pupils joined us this year, which is great news. "The entire class is friendly and they easily accept new pupils", as one of the newcomers described the class.

There are 26 people in our class altogether, but only 16 of us study English as a foreign language, the others study German. It's a lively class with lots of communicative students (chatterboxes, we could call them), as there are 11 boys and only 5 girls, we could say this is a male-dominated class, however, the boys are really nice with girls.

We are talkative because we want to entertain our teachers and we want to have a good time. As one of us said, we keep on training our teachers. We like to play together. Most of the boys are really into playing soccer, one of us is a professional player. We have loads of hobbies and we are eager to get to know more about other countries, we would like to make friends with people all around the world. We hope that GTP will be just as useful and interesting for you as for us. It would be great to get aquainted with you  personally.

We can't wait to hear from you and the images and sounds of your country.

If you want to know more about our school, please contact the school's homepage, there is an intro of the school in English:

IS1 Teacher  Introduction

Hello everyone,

My name is Andrea Ungor, or to be precise,  Ungor Andrea, as in Hungarian names the family name is followed by the first name. I'm a teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I graduated from a teacher training college for primary school teachers, so I was trained to teach all the subjects to younger students. At first, I taught young learners,  then I got my BA from Pázmány Péter Catholic University and while I was on maternity leave, I started my Spanish studies at the University of Szeged.

I have two children, a daughter (8) and a son (6). I teach learners aged from 9 to 18. I enjoy teaching. I'm interested in education that fosters interest, curiosity, tolerance, understanding, personal responsibility, awareness, enjoyment, a sense of community, civic duty and an appreciation for beauty and intelligence. That's why I have decided to participate in this project. However, my desire to take part in it would not have been enough if my 7th graders (12-13-year-olds) were not so enthusiastic and eager to learn about other countries in the world. They have been using the virtual classroom we set up on Ning successfully, so I  believe it is very useful to use ICT in the English classroom with them.

Hobbies: I love listening to music in a wide variety of genres. I enjoy reading fiction, going to the cinema and singing. I'm fond of cycling, swimming and dancing.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Andrea

Dear Andrea

Thanks for the time you spent reading my message, and for your kind words. I have never visited Hungary before but it is a wonderful country too.
Just to answer your question. The place where I have taken my picture is the Mausoleum where Mouly Issmail, the founder of Meknés city, is buried. He is the third king of the Royal “Alawi “family whish is still governing the country by his Majesty the King Mohamed the 6th.
Moly Ismail stands as great King in the history of Morocco, and thanks to him Meknes was the Capital of the Kingdom. If you want to have a panoramic view inside the Mausoleum, just click on this link.

Morocco is a country of mixture between the Muslim and European world. Most of what has been built in Spain takes inspiration from Morocco’s architecture. The challenge now is to preserve this historical and humanistic heritage. In 1994 Meknés was declared by UNISCO as an international Human Heritage. Meknes is called by many of its visitors as the Open Air Museum.
We will be happy to give more information about our country, and answer all your questions. And if you are thinking about visiting Morocco, you are more than welcome.
